2022 Eligibility and Rules
The Snowvana Amateur Film Competition is open to all amateur athletes and filmmakers worldwide. Athletes & Filmmakers must be ages 13 and up.
Footage must be from the 2021/2022 season and may include urban, powder, park, and all other terrains.
Films will be judged on the exact same criteria, and there are no age tiers.
Keep in mind that it is the Snowvana Film Competition, not the Snowvana Edit Competition.
The winners are to be determined by Snowvana & Level 1. Selections are final and are non-disputable.
All filmmakers, riders, and skiers entering the contest must be amateurs. If an individual has received cash compensation (more than just gear and travel) for their work in the ski industry in either category, they must disclose it in the entry form notes. Snowvana reserves the right to disqualify individuals at our discretion if we feel this rule is being bent or broken.
Upon entry, the contestant grants Snowvana & Level 1 the rights to use submitted material as they see fit, in any and all mediums of distribution. Entry materials will not be returned.
Winners must attend Snowvana to receive an award. If the winner is not available to participate in Snowvana, Snowvana and Level 1 hold the right to pick another contestant.
This competition has closed.
Entries must be submitted before 11:59 pm on October 5th, 2022. No Exceptions
Scoring
Level 1 athletes and staff will overview all submitted films. There are no time constraints on the length of films – but keep in mind that longer is not always better. Videos should showcase skiers/riders’ style, vibe, skills, creativity, and film production & cinematography. Snowvana & Level 1 selections are considered final and reserve the right to disqualify anybody who’s not following the rules and has the ability to make changes throughout the contest.
How are we scoring films this year? There’s no official scoring sheet, but here’s the breakdown of how we’re looking at entries:
10% Overall Vibe
25% Technical Ability and Creativity in the Skiing
25% Production Value and Cinematography
40% Overall Impression
Videos should showcase creative cinematography and an eye for showcasing skiing well. It won’t earn you points if your video is the highest quality production value but you end your clips before riders land.
Submission / Guidelines
Please send a URL link to your film within the entry form. Video must be submitted before 11:59 pm on October 5th, 2022. No Exceptions.
Judging
All submissions will be reviewed by one of the industry’s most elite film companies, Level 1. The winners will be selected by a panel of Level 1 athletes, staff, and filmmakers. The winner(s) will be announced on October 15th, 2022.
Awards will be presented at Snowvana along with each winner’s film being showcased at the event.
